House Guests, Health, Trips, and more!

Hey you guys!

Wow, has it been a while since I've posted! In fact, I don't think I ever even bothered to post about how I went back to Michigan in December to see my family and friends and to have Patrick meet all of them! I'll probably get around to that someday, and I've obviously done a couple of posts since then, but it has been two whole months since my last blog post! Whoops!

The simple truth is that I just haven't done anything that I felt like dedicating an entire blog post to... so now that I've done a bunch of things, you're getting a master post! Get ready for a mishmash of information regarding the things that have gone on in the past two months!

So the first awesome thing is that we finally finished our anniversary puzzle! Do you guys remember the puzzle I had custom made for Patrick for our first anniversary? Well we've been working on it since late November and we FINALLY finished it in January! Not only is it completely put together, but it is also glued within an inch of its life and framed in on the largest piece of wall we have left in our house which is actually in the kitchen (but it looks great!).

We also had our first house guest in January! I failed to mention it in any of my other posts, but Patrick's daughter Jackie came to stay with us about a week or two after we got back home from Michigan. We had a great time showing her around Portland and the surrounding area. I'm so glad that she got to spend some quality time with us, especially with her dad, which is something that obviously doesn't happen nearly as often now that we don't live in the same state as her.

In February we had another guest-- one that wasn't obligated by familial relations to love us or visit us! I want to give a huge shout out to Jules, who went out of her way to make sure that she stopped up to see us and stay with us for a few days while she took some time to herself. We had a great time!

My last post in February was actually about our trip to Disneyland for my birthday, which is a significant event for me because once we got home I discovered some weird symptoms that were really messing with me-- I was absolutely exhausted, spending over 8-9 hours a night sleeping, taking 2-4 hour naps during the day, and being on the verge of falling asleep in between. I spent a couple of weeks that way before finally going to the doctor and finding out that my vitamin d levels were incredibly low. I actually just finished my last weekly vitamin d supplement and I'm feeling much better!

During that time (February, I believe), we went on an adventure and visited the Tillamook Cheese Factory! That was loads of fun-- we got to sample lots of cheeses, eat delicious dairy products at the Tillamook restaurant, and watch cheese being packaged for aging and sale. It was in the most beautiful beach town right on the coast, and Patrick and I were both in love with the awful rainy weather (which is probably our favorite part of living in Oregon so far-- we absolutely love the rain and the gloom)!

The best cheese curds either of us have ever had!

Finally, just this past weekend we were able to take some time to drive back down to San Francisco for the first time since moving out of state. We wanted to surprise our friend Shannon for her birthday at our favorite pub, Cameron's! We both had an amazing time catching up with our family and friends and are so thankful that we were able to coordinate the trip.

The drive down was beautiful!

In fact, shortly after we booked our trip to SF, Patrick's company found out that we were going to be within driving distance (from SF) to one of our favorite clients to go to because of the location... which is Reno, NV! I love Reno! So the day after Shannon's birthday party, we drove from SF to Reno and stayed there from Sunday until Thursday. We explored the town some more (one of our favorite hobbies) and we even went to see a musical production of Footloose at the El Dorado casino & resort! We had a fantastic time, and of course the Footloose song was stuck in our heads for days!

Have you ever had Raising Cane's?

The theater ended up being packed full once the show started!

The drive home was gorgeous!

There was a lot of snow on the ground when we got into the mountains.

We ran into a huge blizzard in the mountains, and this isn't even the worst of it! Even as an experienced snow driver, the twists and turns of the mountains were not fun with an inch of snow on the ground!

Eventually the snow cleared up.

And it started raining almost immediately when we hit the Oregon border (but first it snowed!)

Other things that we've done include: A trip to OMSI for OMSI After Dark Superhero Night, a visit with my sister-in-law Renee in Portland, and a surprise visit from a friend of mine from back home who was in the PDX area for work! I also had SEVEN cavities filled... And that's what you get when you skip going to the dentist for five years. REGULAR CLEANINGS, PEOPLE!

Currently Patrick has been travelling almost non-stop for the past month and he's away again right now. We're also working on nailing down my next trip to Michigan! I'll let everyone know when that is as soon as we book the trip. In case anyone is wondering, it will just be me this time! Patrick definitely won't be able to make every trip back home with me because of his work schedule so you'll just have to deal with me for now ;)

I'll Be Home For Christmas! (And I'm Bringing Patrick With Me!)

Hey guys!

I have some super exciting news! It's been in the works for a while now, but as you can probably tell from the title, I'll be home for Christmas!

I made the decision this past summer to skip my usual 6-month visit home so that I could save the airline points for two tickets home for one trip. That's right, Patrick is finally coming with me! (Cue the laughter of the Californians that know Patrick, because he will most likely have to deal with ice and snow)

Patrick still has yet to meet my family (except for my mother, my best friend's mom, and my other best friend who came with me on the roadtrip to California). The intention was to have him meet them just before our wedding that we had planned for last May, however we didn't end up going through with that event so we had to figure out a way to get him to Michigan with me.

Some of you may know that I fly using the airline miles that Patrick racks up when he flies all over the place for work (so that we aren't paying out of pocket for my plane tickets). This is useful because, as a general rule, all plane tickets cost the same number of points (it just depends on the distance you go) and the price does not depend on the time of year. I say this because it is a key reason why I didn't come home this summer-- that way we could use points for both tickets home for Christmas and not have to pay out of pocket for a holiday ticket, which is quite pricey. Last time I looked at trying to come home for the holidays, the ticket was nearly $1,000. Just for one person.

So when will I be back? My flight gets in pretty late in the day on Thursday, December 17th, 2015 and, because Patrick is travelling not from home but from another state (that he will have been working in), he arrives a couple of days later. Both of us leave quite early on Thursday, December 31st, 2015, so basically I have from the 18th through the 30th to spend time with family and friends.

********I do want to make a very important note: PLEASE NO GIFTS. This is because Patrick and I will not be able to fit extra stuff in our luggage on the way home and we don't want to have to pay to ship anything anyone might want to give us. If you absolutely insist on a gift, please ship it (or have it shipped) to our place in Oregon (just ask me for the address) so that we can open it when we get home and not have to worry about it on the way back. Travelling during the holidays is already going to be stressful and the possibility of having to probably buy an entire suitcase when we get there in order to bring stuff back with us on the plane is a whole situation that we would rather not have to deal with. Getting to see you is a gift in itself! Please don't get us a gift assuming that you'll be the only one and that it will definitely fit in our luggage-- if everyone thinks that way, we'll end up with the whole suitcase thing and I needn't have even said any of this, you know what I mean?********

On our schedule so far is Christmas Eve with my dad's family, Christmas Day with my mom's family, and a trip to Frankenmuth (because Patrick needs to experience Bronner's and Zehnder's, don't you think?). Patrick does have to work for three days towards the end of our trip, however those days are reserved for things that Patrick wouldn't necessarily like to do with me, such as a sleepover with my sisters! I'm also going to need a Jet's deep dish pizza with light sauce, extra cheese, and bacon, with side of Jet's bread and a lot of ranch. Like, enough ranch for at least ten people (but obviously just for me). :P

I'm beyond excited and actually quite emotional because I haven't spent the Christmas holidays with my family in two years (not to say that our Christmases here aren't awesome-- Check out Christmas 2013 and Christmas 2014!), but it will be nice to finally get together with the people I haven't been able to see because I normally only see them around the holidays.

So that's it! That's the plan! If you'd like to schedule something with us or if you've been dying to meet my boyfriend, then fiance, and now husband, please let me know and we can plan a lunch or dinner or something!

Michigan, I'll see you in 65 days!

Several Huge Updates!

Well, I just killed my first Black Widow Spider, so I'm going to need drink. Or seven. And I don't drink.

Hey, everyone! I thought it was time for an update since we have a whole lot going on right now! If you don't feel like reading the whole darn thing, scroll through, read the bolded points as a summary, and then check out the photos at the end!

1. We're Moving Again

If you guys remember, we moved here to our current town, Tracy, last August. The intention was to save money on rent by moving further away from The Bay Area so that we could save up for a down payment on a house, however several things happened along the way.

First of all, the apartments we were looking at just weren't very nice. So instead of saving $800 like we had intended, we found some more decent apartments and ended up saving only $500. Of course this is still saving, however we're not where we'd like to be in terms of how-much-is-going-out-in-rent.

For those of you who don't know, homes in California are OUTRAGEOUSLY PRICED. Homes in San Mateo (where we moved from) that would cost about $150k (or less) in Michigan (and you'd get a much bigger yard in Michigan), can cost close to $1,000,000 here. I'm not kidding. The prices make me sick. And, as you can probably figure out, this drastically increases the amount needed for the down payment on a house. By a LOT. Which is why some people in California live in apartments all their lives, and why there are 4+ bedroom apartments here.

Therefore, we are moving once again this August to try to achieve our saving goals and to rid ourselves of a lot of apartment and general area related stress.

Our apartment is not all it was supposed to be. We constantly have problems with trashy neighbors, parking, the gardeners, the noise, and the dumpsters. The amount we are paying for the quality of these apartments is not worth it and we cannot stay here any longer. In addition, moving out here put us 1.5 hours away from an airport and at least 30 minutes away from anything decent in terms of shopping, food, etc., and we have found that the area is just not for us. The drive to the airport coupled with Patrick's work travel is taking a toll on us, especially since my car is not in service right now. I'll get into detail with that in a bit.

The moral of this story is that we will be moving again, which is a pain in the dupa, but it is necessary for our sanity. The good news is that we've found a couple of really promising apartments in Roseville, which is where we're set on moving. The other good news is that moving to Roseville puts us so much closer to stuff, like shopping and food and civilization and an airport. Plus it's only a 25 minute drive to Sacramento, and who doesn't love Old Sac? (No pun intended, this truly is what it is called in shorthand)

2. We Are Retiring from The Bawdy Caste

The bad news is that Roseville puts us a full two hours away from the Bay Area, and that's in decent traffic. It was with heavy hearts that we announced our retirement from The Bawdy Caste at the most recent show on April 4th. We will be close enough to do occasional shows, but Patrick's schedule is so unpredictable that promising to do our part as cast members and show up to as many shows as we do now just isn't possible. We plan on guest performing when time allows, but as of the July 4th show, we will no longer be full-time cast members. We are going to desperately miss performing and doing shows with our Rocky Family, but the time has come for Patrick and I to focus on our goals as a family and what we want our future together to look like.

3. Patrick's Leg Injury is not Healing, My Health is Improving

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned this to any of you or if you all remember it even if I did, but Patrick injured himself last summer. It was just after we moved to the new apartment and while on stage at a show, Patrick turned the wrong way and his tendon separated from his calf muscle. It resulted in an incredibly painful injury that he was given no time to heal from, because the following Monday (and he did this on a Saturday), he was at the airport gearing up for a week in Canada. The nature of Patrick's job is that he either travels to a client to train its staff or he teaches virtual classes from home, but none of this is ever regular, so he could be travelling for a month straight and only be home on Fridays and Saturdays, or he could not travel for several months. It truly just depends on what the clients want.

Patrick was given no down time in terms of healing and went straight on the road with a cane. He was gone for three weeks with only one full day at home between each trip, which took him to Canada, Washington, and Sacramento. Not to mention that much of the time his hotel is so close to the client that he doesn't even bother renting a car and opts for walking every day to the client-- something that really took a toll on him this time around. When he got back, he went to Urgent Care (the only thing he could find the time to get to because we had just moved and he had not switched physicians-- the distance and his schedule made making an appointment with his old doctor in San Mateo impossible). He was told to RICE the injury and he did the best be could, but in order to prevent the tendon from snapping again, he began walking heavily on his heel to prevent the muscles from stretching in his calf.

Long story short, his injury healed but he created a new one when he tried to keep the weight off of the healing injury, and he has been living with chronic pain ever since. He finally had time to make an appointment to see a specialist, who worries that he has created so much scar tissue around his Achilles tendon that he may need surgery to remove the scar tissue and rebuild the tendon, which will be determined by the results of his MRI scheduled for this Thursday, and he's currently in a orthopedic boot. A surgery like this could set us back drastically in terms of down payment savings and moving, so good vibes and positive thoughts would be super helpful! I will keep you all updated about this situation.

Additionally, my health has been improving. My possible brain leakage has not recurred and my symptoms have mostly subsided, which makes me hopeful. However, I am still dealing with a lot of anxiety, which for some reason mostly went away for several weeks but is now back with a vengeance, although otherwise I'm doing alright. I want to thank everyone for their warm wishes towards my health and hopes that I'll feel better, because truly I am.

4. My Car Is Most Likely Retiring

The winter before this past winter, we discovered my that car had some trouble starting in severe weather (when it was too hot or too cold), and quite often I would have to run back inside the house, grab Patrick's keys, and take his car to work. When he would go out to start my car at lunch time, it would start right up, and it took a while for us to figure out what the difference was and why it would start at 11am but not 7am.

The issue continued when we moved here, and now that I don't have much reason to drive it (except for when Patrick is out of town), the car has died completely. The battery will not hold a charge and, regardless of how often I start or drive it, the thing dies. I'm right at the mileage cusp where things in the engine are going to start needing repairs, especially for its age (I have a 2000 2 door 4 Cyl Grand AM, 87k miles), and we've decided that trying to put more money into it to keep it going is probably not in our best interest, especially since the body of the car has suffered a lot of damage from a previous accident with a pole and is rusting out in quite a few places from the lovely weather in Michigan.

Our hopes are to get the car a new battery and turn the vehicle in towards a different vehicle for me. Notice I said different, not new. Though the car will be new to me, it will likely not be "brand-new," because I truly don't drive enough to need something with such low mileage. As affectionate as I am towards my car and as much as I love it, I think that after five years and a trip across the country together, it has finally given up on me and it's time to let it go.

For those who don't know, my car's name is Hercules, and it was my graduation gift from my parents. My dad sold his beloved '64 Impala-- which he was planning on fixing up-- in order to get me a decent first car. We were lucky when a customer of my dad's offered to sell him a car that she just had sitting around (I believe it was her late son's), which only had 53k miles on it at the time. The price was way under what it was worth, and even though it required some work, the result was worth it. That car saved me in my first accident-- the length of the front end prevented what could have been very serious injuries-- and even though the insurance totaled the car out, we bought it back and fixed it up and it was as good as new. During 2011-2013, I practically lived in my car with as much as I drove around, and eventually it got me across the country to start my new life in California. This is a really sad subject for me because I'm so attached to the car, but I think I'm finally ready for a new chapter after all its gotten me through.

5. We're Going On A Trip!

In July, we will be spending a week in Portland (sort of for Patrick's birthday but also because I've never been to Portland). I'll get to meet Patrick's best friend Dennis AND my sister-in-law and her family, all for the first time! I'm so jazzed about this. We're technically staying in Vancouver, WA, but Portland is a short ride right across the bridge. I am definitely way too excited for words about this. Also, does anyone else think it's weird that there is a Vancouver in Washington and in Canada? I keep feeling like I'm heading to another country when, in fact, I'm headed to the Pacific Northwest. Still awesome, though!

6. The Loss and Gain of a Family Member

If anyone knows me well, or even just knows me a little bit, they most likely know that I am a crazy cat lady. I mean, if we had our own house and weren't hindered by a two-pet limit, I would have like fifteen cats.

Good thing I'm already married, amiright?

We adopted my cat Marble back in May of last year, which brought our household cat total up to two. Some of you may know that when I moved in with Patrick, I also moved in with Beep, the tabby cat. This part of the post is incredibly bittersweet because our ability to adopt a new pet came after we had to make the incredibly difficult decision of letting Beep go.

Beep was almost 18 years old and was suffering from severe arthritis and dementia. She constantly limped and would only get up to go to the bathroom or eat. She also wouldn't leave the office, but would lose her memory every few minutes or so and start to cry and yowl at the wall, wondering where everyone was. Unless Patrick was in there constantly, Beep would continue to suffer and was almost always scared because she didn't know what was going on. It was definitely time to let her go, and so last month in March, we made an appointment and let her pass on peacefully instead of allowing her to suffer as much as she was. It's difficult for both of us, even though she was specifically Patrick's cat, and sometimes we catch ourselves and can still think we hear her snoring underneath the desk. The loss of a pet is never easy, and Beep's passing is no exception, but we are glad that she is no longer suffering.

Some of you may also know that our apartment complex has a ton of stray cats in it. We've fed them on our patio ever since we moved in, we've named all of them, we've been able to trap and adopt a couple of them out, and some of them are friendly enough to let us pet them and play with them. Especially Agador.

Agador Spartacus, who we initially thought was a boy until we got a closer look, would follow us home from the mail box almost every day and would let me pick her up and bring her inside. She did this for several months, and a few weeks after Beep passed, Patrick and I knew that our hearts still had a lot of room to fill, and we decided that the next time we saw Agador, we would bring her inside and bathe her and clip her nails. If she allowed us to do these things, we would keep her.

Since she has been living with us since April 2nd, obviously the bathing and nail clipping went alright. She is about 4-5 months old by the state of her teeth (she is getting her big kitty teeth still and losing her baby teeth, which means she is under 6 months). We even discovered that someone has already spayed her, although we are certain she was a stray and was either abandoned or someone took her in as a TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) and didn't tell the vet she was a stray, so they marked her differently than they would have a stray (spayed/neutered pets have a tattoo on their belly to indicate that they've been fixed, which is what Agador and Marble have; fixed strays that are taken in for TNR have the tip of one ear clipped for easy, distant identification).

Agador is so super sweet and playful. When I lay down on my back next to her, she will hop up on my belly/chest and start to purr instantly. She likes to run inbetween our legs and she twitches when she dreams and she is very talkative. She has a very high pitched "MEW!" and almost sounds like she is saying "hello?"

We had been keeping the two cats separate up until a couple of days ago, and the introduction seems to be going well. Marble is learning to share her space and Agador is learning to give Marble her space. The only thing we need to work on with Agador is scratching the carpet (we're trying to teach her to use a cardboard scratcher but she just isn't getting it) and eating Marble's food (which we've moved to on top of the dresser where Agador has a harder time getting to it and hasn't found it yet).

So without anything further, everyone please welcome Agador Spartacus Powers to our family! Points if you know where we got her name from! Agador has joined Marble on her Instagram, which is now @marbleandagador, so go follow them if you haven't already for your daily dose of kitties!

My dad sent me a bag of chocolates, a card, and this bunny for Easter. Agador promptly stole the bunny and tries to "kill it" on a regular basis.

She'll hop right on top of you and start purring!

"What are you eating? Never mind, I don't care. Give it to me."

That's it for now! I will keep everyone updated on our health and anything else they might be curious about. I still have a blog that I haven't done... I'll get to it eventually! Right now I'm crocheting up a storm, using Youtube to teach me new skills. I've even made a few amigurumi catnip mice for the cats, how cool are they?! I'm hoping to add to my skill arsenal so that I can start to put things on Etsy and make some profit off of my hobby! We also have a wedding to attend this weekend which we are both super excited for, so I'll probably get to a post about that sometime next week! Thank you again for the love, everyone!

What a Wonderful Life!

Hey everyone!

It has, once again, been way too long since my last blog post. That was back in June, and it's already almost October! Holy crap!

While we had a bit of a break from "major events" for a while, these past few months have been quite insane to say the very least. Since my last post, Patrick has been travelling so much that neither of us knows where he is half of the time. Beginning in May, he has been to Florida, Oklahoma, Nevada (2x), Ohio (3x), California (2x and far enough away that he was staying in the city he was working in), Missouri, Canada, Washington, and California (different city and, again, far enough away). Each of these stays was anywhere from 3-5 days long, with a day tacked on each end of the trip for travel, so we haven't seen a whole lot of each other, especially during the last four weeks! Making it work has been difficult, but we're both very careful to make our time together count when he is home. Thankfully his travel schedule is slowing down now and I have been able to go with him on those trips that are within driving distance. He has three more trips scheduled for the next few months, and I get to go on two of those (Vegas and Reno, here we come!) and right now we are in Sacramento, making his trip into a long weekend for us so that we can spend some quality time together.

During that time we also moved! I'm so excited to say that we have moved to a place close enough to all of our friends that driving to see one another is not a big ordeal, plus we can still make Rocky shows. The biggest hook for us was that we will be saving quite a bit in rent. The place that we moved out of is now renting for anywhere between $2,700-$3,700 per month now that it's updated. We're incredibly lucky to have found a place that we're both really pleased with. We're saving on rent, our apartment is a billion (yes, A BILLION) times better than our old one, the city is much more navigable for me, and we're just down the street from a couple of our friends in case of an emergency. Oh, and there are at least seven kitties that just hang out in the apartment complex at all times. They're part of my clan. We're starting an army.

This is Oreo. There is also Stumpy, Tom, Scooter, and a couple of others that I've named but haven't seen in a while. We're best friends.

We were also able to attend a Nine Inch Nails concert together, which was fantastic!

For someone who is used to a very grid-like city, with each main road one mile apart from the next and probably 90% of them are straight road with little to no curve, moving to a city where almost no roads run only N&S or E&W is really unnerving, especially if you're like me and tend to panic when you turn the wrong way or don't know where you're going. Unfortunately, that is exactly how our last city was. This panic stems directly from getting lost in Detroit alone, at night, with no GPS signal, gas tank on E, and no one answering their phone. I know the things that could have happened there are much less likely to happen here, but when you get lost in Detroit under those circumstances you know to just keep driving until you find the freeway or risk a very dangerous situation (and I'm taking about a really bad area, one that even Detroit natives tend to avoid). Our new city is much more like what I'm used to! It's fantastic to move to a city where there are grid-like roads and the traffic isn't so bad that you have to worry about being able to get off or back on a road in order to check a map or make a phone call. I'm super relieved that I feel like I can drive myself around again!

In summary, I'm finding our new town to be superb and I am super pleased that we chose to move where we are.

Other fantastic news: Our friends Brook & Mandy welcomed their first baby, Harlow, to the world. He is so handsome and sweet and I'm super happy for the both of them. In addition, our friends James & Aimee welcomed their first baby, Tesla, just a few weeks later! We have yet to meet her, but we are excited to do so! We also have a Disney trip planned for November and we have quite a few Rocky Horror shows planned for October, so we have a busy couple of months coming up!

Welcome, Harlow! Pleased to meet you :)

Wedding planning is full speed ahead. So far I've gotten my dress, my girls have their dresses picked out, Patrick has his tux picked out, the venue has been paid for, over 50% of the decorations have been crafted, the invites have been picked out, and we've chosen an officiant and a photographer! However, I am having a lot of trouble with our chosen caterer. My grandparents have been amazing and even with everything they have going on right now they are still offering to foot the catering bill. They suggested Joe's Produce to me, which I was all for. My family has shopped at Joe's for years and my grandmother (the other one) actually works there. However, the Catering Coordinator there is just awful with communication. It has been two months and I've emailed twice asking for an updated breakdown of our costs so that we can all budget accordingly, and apparently that is just too much for her to handle. I'm very disappointed and at this point, until I talk to my grandparents about it, I will probably not be going with their services. While I understand that wedding business is always busy, I intend to be a paying customer (and I would be happy to put a down payment on everything if that meant I would get some decent service!) and I am already disappointed to say the very least. Besides that, all that's left is dress alterations, bar services, all floral arrangements, and the rest of the decorations.

The downside to life right now is that my car is having troubles. Yes, that's right, Hercules is struggling. While I've always known that my car has slowly been falling apart, lately he has just given up. It seems that he won't start unless really coaxed to and it's especially difficult when it is either too hot or cold outside. The other day, I almost got stranded at Target. Even after a (probably unnecessary) jump start from Mall Security, he still wouldn't start. I spent more than an hour trying to get my car going before I decided to bother some friends when finally he started right up. Patrick was out of town, Brook and Mandy had only been home for a day with their new baby, and Delfino was at work, so I was really stressed out. Thankfully the car started, but I got offers for help from both Brook and Delfino, plus Brook ended up lending me her car for the week! (Thank you again so much for letting me borrow your car. You and Mandy are the best!)

Patrick and I believe it's a gas-related issue (hehe), and we're hoping that it won't be too much to fix, but with the mileage and age of my car we are really looking into other options because we know other parts will start to go soon, and it's just a matter of "how much will this be to fix and how long will the car last in the long run" versus "how much will it be to lease/pay off a new vehicle in the time that we will have been able to keep the current car." It's a really emotional thing for me because Hercules (and yes, he is a boy) is my first car. We've been through a lot together, including what could have been a very serious accident had it not been for the sturdiness of my car, and there was a long period of my life that I was basically living out of my car during the day because I did so much running around and either sleeping at home or at a friend's house at night. My car has been reliable and faithful to me and even took me and all of my belongings through eight states, but it's time to seriously consider the options at hand. As hard as it may be, the best option may be to move on. We shall see.

I'm currently posting this from our hotel room in Rancho Cordova from my brand new laptop (thanks, state taxes, for finally going through after getting lost the first time, and thanks to Patrick for blowing some of that money on me). We just spent a wonderful day in Sacramento on real date (complete with carriage ride and a nap!) and I'm reflecting on how incredibly wonderful life has been to me, even with its ups and downs. I'm a very thankful woman today :)

Please enjoy many photos of our first day in Sacramento-ish (we're a couple of miles away). I'll proabably have more to post later as we explore!

On our way from Rancho Cordova to Sacramento for our Date Day! But first, let me take a selfie.

Selfie with this guy... Who is he? I have no idea. But a selfie with a bust of an old white guy is always a good idea. This was taken in some museum that we went into. I can only imagine it was called the Sacramento Museum or something.

More museum goods! Honestly the whole thing was a little boring. Too much reading! Not nearly as rich as I'm used to (growing up withThe Henry Ford Museum must have spoiled me).

Our view during lunch!

We had lunch at an adorable Chicago-Style Pizzeria. The patio was so cute and we had it all to ourselves-- in fact, we were the only customers there!

Mmm, Caesar Salad

Patrick's Shrimp Pesto personal pizza

My not-so-pretty, already-cut-into-pieces Chicago Hawiian pizza with mushrooms, mmm

Patrick booked a carriage ride through the park for us. This is the first time I have ever been near a horse and he let me pet him!

Now we're best friends.

I guess I own a novelty store? Honestly the store was really disappointing, but if they ever go out of business I'm going to need that sign!

Ridiculous? Yes. Did we choke on our mini doughnuts because we were laughing? Also yes.

Patrick told me that he has spent his entire life avoiding things like these, but for me he would take an Old Time picture. I think it's awesome! It needs to go on all of your walls in a nice frame. No worries, I'll definitely post one in our guest bathroom so you can look at it while you poo when you visit us. Next time we're in Disneyland I'm going to make him do caricatures with me :P
